How Greater Than works

Greater Than

Fill the grid with no repeats — every < and > between two squares must hold.

Rule 01

Every row and column holds each number once.

A 4 by 4 board uses 1 to 4, a 6 by 6 board uses 1 to 6. Repeat a number in a row or column and both squares are marked until one of them changes.

Rule 02Every sign between two squares holds.

The narrow end of a sign points at the smaller number: 2 < 3, 4 > 1. Down a column it turns: ∧ means the upper number is the smaller, ∨ the larger.

Rule 03Some numbers stand from the start.

A number already on the board is a given and cannot be changed. The first tier has the most signs; higher tiers have fewer signs and a few more givens.

Rule 04Every day has exactly one answer.

A sign is marked once both its squares are filled and it does not hold. Stuck? A hint fills in, or corrects, one square from the answer. In ranked play, each hint adds 15 s.
